Thanks to our afflilation with Mens Sheds of WA, their Senior engagement Officer Rebecca Talbot, kindly notified us of this FREE Living With Dementia Program which is being run by Dementia Australia starting this week in Dianella – it starts this coming week Feb 4th, for 7 Wednesdays.

 


Overview

Suitable for: People living with dementia and their family carers and family members.

This program provides an overview of dementia and how to proceed after a diagnosis. It covers coping with change, relationships and communication, planning for the future and staying healthy.

 

You will gain knowledge in:

  • dementia and related issues such as planning for the future

  • strategies for living positively with dementia including support

  • the management, reduction and/or prevention of behavioural and psychological symptoms of dementia.

 

Suitable for: 

People in the early to mid stages of dementia, their family carers and family members (carers cannot attend alone). Not suitable for paid carers or health professionals, people without a diagnosis or people living with dementia who do not acknowledge their diagnosis.

If you register, you'll be contacted by Dementia Australia to ensure that the program meets your needs and that you're eligible. You will need to attend multiple sessions or a block of time, and should be willing to participate in a workshop and therapeutic environment.

 

This program runs over 7 sessions:

  • Wednesday 4 February 2026, from 10:00am to 12:30pm

  • Wednesday 11 February 2026, from 10:00am to 12:30pm

  • Wednesday 18 February 2026, from 10:00am to 12:30pm

  • Wednesday 25 February 2026, from 10:00am to 12:30pm

  • Wednesday 4 March 2026, from 10:00am to 12:30pm

  • Wednesday 11 March 2026, from 10:00am to 12:30pm

  • Wednesday 18 March 2026, from 10:00am to 12:30pm
