Looking at the amazing space that has already been created at Padbury Community Garden, we can't believe this is only the second weekend of community Busy Bees to set up the garden!

At this morning's Busy Bee, we had some of our dedicated regular Padbury Community Gardeners as well as some wonderful new faces, at the gates bright, early and ready to get stuck in. A massive thank you to Annette, Anthony, Ben, Carolyn, Christine, Dave, Ellen, Heather, Jeff, Jesse, John, Kaia, Liv, Rachael, Sandy, Sara, Sharlene, Sonya, Sue and Tam for contributing to making today's Busy Bee a wonderful success.

With lots of sand, soil and mulch movement, the wheelbarrows, shovels and muscles certainly got a workout. The skip bin is full, so are the raised and ground garden beds and along with it our hearts.

It was great to stop for a delicious morning tea, provided by Sara and Dave. Thanks for bringing it all down fresh out of the oven Sara. I know everyone was so appreciative for the break, chat and amazing smorgasbord of food.

Gees we have some amazingly strong volunteers in our community, certainly made of tough stuff! We truly appreciate you pushing your bodies to the edge for us and hope you left with full hearts, as we did, knowing the impact you have made for all to enjoy. We hope you all managed to enjoy a soothing salt bath and well deserved rest this afternoon.

If you'd like to join us for our next Busy Bee and morning tea, we would love you to join us. Next Saturday from 7:30am. Please RSVP on this link BUSY BEE SATURDAY 16 MARCH

WOW, just WOW is our response! We had hoped that #BuildItAndTheyWillCome would be an accurate hashtag, and this weekend it certainly proved to be!

We had 23 amazing community members contribute to the Busy Bee today, which absolutely blew us away! Many met us at the community garden bright and early this morning, ready with their shovels, rakes, wheelbarrows, cameras, drone, trailers, smiles, cheer, creativity, kindness and zest for life. A few popped their heads in to say Hello and spread their love and cheer, warming our hearts and putting a smile on our dials.

Thank you to Alison, Anthony, Beate, Bek, Brenda, Carla, Dave, Ellen, George, Harrison, Heather, John, Len, Mary, Nicole, Ryan, Sandy, Sara, Sarah, Simon, Sonya, Sue and Tam. Each one of you contributed something valuable and unforgettable to the community garden this weekend.

Thank you so much for the awesome drone footage Bek!! We'll post a video on our social soon, but here is an aerial for all to see!!

We loved spending the time in the community garden and meeting lovely new members of the community so much, that we have decided to set up some more Buzz-y Bee sessions over the next couple of weekends. This will give more community members an opportunity to be a part of setting up the garden and having a part in Padbury's history.

We really hope you can join us.

Please RSVP on the link below for catering purposes and let us know if you have any dietary requirements.

We were blown away with the community support that rallied this morning for our first Busy Bee, especial at such short notice. Sometimes the spur of the moment plans create the best outcomes.

Thank you to the amazing community volunteers, Anthony, Dave, Gay, Heather, Jeff, Sandy, Sharlene, Sonia, Sonya, Sue and Trix, for working so hard that the garden is now ready for the raised garden beds to be installed!

A huge dent was made in the grass/sand pile, by the ground crew's incredible hard yakka work. They spent hours separating the roots from the sand and grass, and wheelbarrowing grass and/or sand along side the pathways to prevent the edges being a trip hazard.

Getting to meet new hardworking community volunteers like Sharlene, was fantastic. We hope your muscles aren't aching too much tonight from all that shovelling.

After Anthony spent the past weeks in the garden laying the pathways with Coast Projects, he has now returned to volunteer his time and expertise. We truly appreciate all you are contributing to Padbury Community Garden.

It was so wonderful to see how many different ways people can contribute, be it the physical labour, bringing morning tea, planning for next steps, engaging with new sponsors, helping people connect.... the list goes on. Everyone adds value and is valuable to us.

Even Sue, our Treasurer was out there getting some vitamin D and buzzing around the garden.

You are a legend Sue.

It was a great surprise to have Jeff from Coast Projects rock up. Together Jeff and Ant are continuing to advise us regarding adhering to building codes, as well as donating their time and supplies. Your contribution is so valuable to us and we are so grateful for your generosity.

It was lovely to stop for a morning tea break together with the best coffee from the one and only Alex Jr and delicious treats. Thanks for the bonus cakes Gay.

We are now looking forward to Day 2 of our Busy Bee Weekend on Monday morning, where we will be installing the raised garden beds and moving some more of the sand pile. Hope to see some new faces then.

Thank you again to all our wonderful community members who generously shared their time, muscles and beautiful energy this morning.
